Jeremiah's birthday party and other news!
So less than a week after loosing our sweet baby, we had Jeremiah's first birthday party!
We cleaned and decorated our behinds off in preparation for it! I was actually pretty nervous because I didn't want people to act weird around us. But was also kind of sad that nobody even mentioned it or gave us hugs. But it was nice to have a nice, fun day with family. It was what we needed after a rough week! People came a little early which was ok because we got to just sit around and talk. Jeremiah took a short nap before hand so he wouldn't be cranky during the party. Once he woke up and warmed up, he was loving the spot light! He was making goofy faces, playing peek-a-boo and just being a ham!
We enjoyed a lovely lunch of bbq pork made by Matt, fruit salad, chips and fruit punch. After we all got done eating and had been talking awhile, the kids got us all going on a game of "don't let the balloons touch the floor!" It was quite entertaining for awhile and pretty hilarious to see a bunch of adults batting at balloons to each other! We then got Jeremiah stripped and settled into his high chair and sang happy birthday. He wasn't too sure what to think about his smash cake but it didn't take long for him to get it everywhere! I'm not sure he even had any, he just enjoyed getting to throw pieces all over which he never gets to do with his food! To say he was a mess at the end of it is putting it lightly! I was happy to get lots of compliments on the rainbow cake that about drove Matt and I into the nut house!
After cake, Jeremiah got in the bath quick and then we did presents! He opened a couple and then just wanted to play! He got lots of cool musical toys, a movie, a set of pjs and even some money! At the end of the day, Jeremiah was partied out! He slept over 12 hours, woke up in the morning and then took a nap after being up for only an hour! Then he spent the day playing with all his new toys! He still favors his new toys over the old ones!
The past few weeks have gone by quietly. Jeremiah is working hard at taking steps! So far, we've gotten him to take 2.5 steps towards us. He still needs his confidence boosted but we are working on it! We also found out that Jeremiah loves the Christian rap artist Lecrae! Jeremiah will stop what he is doing just to dance and head bang to the music! So cute!
Jeremiah also had his 1 year check up at the beginning of the month. He is a little over 26 pounds and 31 inches tall, putting him in the 95 percentile. He got 4 shots but handled them like a champ. He cried but not for long. The doctor said he is right where he is supposed to be so that is great news! He also recently cut all four molars and an eye tooth at once. One tooth coming in is bad enough...5 at once was a nightmare! Thankfully all but one of those are in so now he has 8 teeth with the 9th working its way down.
Jeremiah also got his first professional haircut! His hair was just so out of control and it needed cut! People kept telling me to do it myself but you just can't cut curly hair on your own. We took him to a professional salon here in town and she did so wonderful! Jeremiah sat on my lap and then she started with the sheers. She let him see it and touch it so he wouldn't be afraid. He did so wonderful! He didn't cry, or try to get away at all. Just sat there like he had done it a million times before!
